 The Athlete Narrative - Share Your Story Hello all! This is an opportunity for all athletes/non-athletes who have either experienced or witnessed athlete body negativity/shaming. We now have a Google Form where anybody can anonymously share or opt to publish their experiences with athlete body shaming.  Here's where to find the Google Form: https://forms.gle/Ac7i94Nt3VAo1RZt6 You can also visit the link in our Instagram bio (@theathletenarrative).  All submissions must be appropriate and names in the stories cannot be real. PLEASE take this resource seriously, as it outlines an important and sensitive topic for many.

 Workout Wednesday #1     Introducing Workout Wednesday! Starting this Wednesday, we will post one workout per every four weeks on both our website and our Instagram (@theathletenarrative). We understand that there are some athletes who are stuck at home during the pandemic and are looking for ways to workout and stay active. Types of Body Negativity: In and Out of Sports ྿TRIGGER WARNING: EATING DISORDERS/BODY IMAGE ISSUES The tough thing about body negativity and body image issues is that it stems from many different areas. This is true in body negativity in general: whether in sports or out. Body shaming can come from external influences, but it can also stem from the athlete themselves. In order to eradicate body shaming in sports, it is crucial to be able to recognize and learn the main different sources of body negativity in sports.  1. Specific weight brackets and aesthetics in sports  This category of body negativity is relatively easy to pinpoint, but difficult to eradicate. Sports that have specific weight brackets, such as wrestling or boxing, can often cause their athletes to feel shame about their weight and body mass.
